Some major things to free up space:

1. Move system restore data to a flash drive. Frees ~4GB.

2. After all updates are installed, delete update cache. Frees ~1GB.

3. Disable virtual memory. Frees ~1GB.

Thanks for the tips, plan to do that and a few optimization tricks from the XDA forum.

You are confusing the Surface Pro smart cover with a normal keyboard. There will be 3rd party attachments that give it a normal keyboard, guaranteed. Lastly why do you need a touchpad if your screen has touch?

Surface Pro is on their website. Its seem pretty big.

I really like how it has 2 USB ports. Very smart. Windows users aren't the typical tablet users - we like to use mice - we practically need a dedicated port for a mouse and another open port for whatever else. The stupid flimsy keyboard hinge is killing me though. The cheap touchpad version is fine the way it is but the "mechanical" keyboard should have been a real hinge.

1. a touchscreen is awkward to use with a keyboard, and unergonomic

2. touch is not well suited for x86 apps because it's precise enough. imagine editing a word document by touching the screen with your finger. stylus will work better, but again it's going to be awkward with a keyboard

Which is in direct contradiction of many reviewers of W8 touch screen laptops, where they say that they feel quite comfortable reaching for the screen instead of the touch pad.

maybe because they have only used it for a short period. reaching over with your arm is definitely going to get tiring over an extended period time. and regardless it is just not precise enough for a lot of x86 apps. i can't imagine trying to edit a document and select the right spot between two letters with my finger.

i'm still pro w8 because they added trackpad gestures as well and i like the new start menu and hotkeys. but they should have put the emphasis on better trackpads, not a gimmick like touch screens

Looks like I'll be waiting for Intel Haswell to hit the market, that will greatly increase battery life and even performance on all Ultrabooks and Windows 8 Tablets.
