AMD + Nvidia Physx card

post #1 of 6
Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

I'm wondering, I just upgraded from a Nvidia GTX470 to a Gigabyte HD7950 Windforce, and I read that you can use Nvidia cards as a dedicated Physx card.

Now i'm wondering, is this possible using those cards I have.
If yes, how much power do you think I would need, I currently have a Cooler Master 620M, I personally think this won't be enough but I don't know if the GTX470 will use less power because it will only be used for Physx.

If anyone could explain this to me that would be great smile.gif

Thanks in advance.

Latest as in 306 or 310 what ever it is?
Because I just read the article again and it said for the 2xx serie drivers you need 1.04ff orsomething, does that driver mod also support 3xx?

Also I looked at the Extreme PSU calculator, selected my HD7950 and an AGEI Physx PPU, (that option beneath), is thewattage it calculates the amount I need or is it still based on the which physx GPU you use, I don't want to blow my PSU, so I'm still cautious because I don't have the money for a new PSU if I do blow it at the moment.

Thanks for the fast reply. smile.gif

EDIT::::

Ohye, the calculator said I need 501W

EDIT2::::::::::::::::

Without AGEI Physx PPU selected it says 471W, so my GTX470 would be using 30W... I think that's incorrect.

Hey everyone,

I followed the instructions at http://www.overclock.net/t/508305/howto-ati-nvidia-physx-guide and I have a problem.
Everytime I make my Main monitor (ATI display) my main display, the Physx option dissapears again..

I'm using the 285.79 Nvidia drivers and PhysX_9.11.0621 drivers.

If anyone knows why, please tell me.

Thanks in advance
