My p6t just died and I got nothin to lose

Hello everyone, I am thinking of making a new build. I do actually have some things in mind but if they are overkill or not enough any ideas are of course welcome.

--I also have another thread about my board dying and well, the people here at OC have been great.--

So heres some of the things I got so far so its an incomplete build. Trying to keep costs down but hey if I cant thats acceptable to.

So Id like to see how much a full upgrade would be-
im gonna try to look at a midgrade if I decide that the money is too much to let go a little less and just wait for Haswell :-/

So far everyones been telling me " go for a 3770k or some variant.

I have gotten one or two people saying "go for the the hex core offering"
Id love to as much as the next guy want to futureproof "set it and forget it" but nowadays with intel and their socket changes its not that easy to.

---My old build wasnt that bad at all ---

I7 920
12 gb gskill ram cl 9
asus p6t deluxe ( sata II frown.gif)

The main thing that always got me as the years went by was just upgrading to a sata III board but I didnt bother. I was happy with my machine overall.

Ok so enough of the lovey dovey crap.

What the plan could be
( nothing set in stone yet)

CPU: 3770k
MOBO: Not sure as of yet. Asus gigabyte or asrock seem to be my flavors of choice atm but others are of course welcome.
Asus Maximus IV Formula/Extreme / Gigabyte Z77X-UP7/ Gigabyte G1 Sniper 3/ AsRock Extrem7e 4 Z77 So many choices?!
RAM: I have 12gb of gskill already so I don't know if i should sell off with the chip and buy new or just keep for now and upgrade later.
HDD: Samsung 840 x2 ( as os drive )

Case and PSU
Not sure either since when the p6t died its 24 pin and 8 pin were singed a bit and I am going to get new connectors for it. Tested it with a multimeter and the voltages appear to be within spec. I just feel wary about putting a PSU involved in a burnout on a new rig. Only if I have to. The PSU I currently own is a PC POWER & COOLING 750 SILENCER.

As to the case I still have a COOLERMASTER STACKER, and it has served me well for a long ass time.

I am using this machine for Motion graphx nuke and 3dsmax rendering for animation. Also a board with a good onboard raid would be excellent since my last machine has two raptors at raid 0 and i wanted to continue the raid tradition.

Any thoughts are welcome!!!!
