I game at 1920x1080 resolution so I was wondering which would be better with my current setup i5 3570k Extreme3 z77 gtx 460(768MB), and 600watt 80certified psu?

Well of course the 7870. It's up to you if you have enough money for a 7870 or not.

This but i can confirm that a 7850 can pretty much max out most games on that resolution. I would know i had 1 before i bought another. biggrin.gif Hope this helps.

Indeed 7870 is the faster card, would be even better if you could get one of those Tahiti-LE 7870s, with 1536 Stream Processors. Not sure about their pricing and availability tho

So far I know of those cards with Tahiti-LE chip
VTX 3D HD7870 Black Edition
Sapphire HD7870 Toxic Edition
Club 3D HD7870 Jokercard XT

if you want to keep the graphics card for 2 - 3 years the HD 7950 boost is the minimum card to consider. the HD 8870 is expected to be priced at 280 bucks and match the GTX 680. 1792 shaders clocked at 1.1 Ghz with 256 bit memory running at 6 Gbps (192 Gb/s).

HD 7950 boost is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970. a HD 7950 boost when overclocked to 1.1 Ghz matches HD 7970 Ghz and beats the GTX 680 clearly. it would take a GTX 680(1.25 Ghz) to match a HD 7950(1.1 Ghz)

http://hexus.net/tech/reviews/graphics/34761-amd-hd-7950-vs-hd-7970-clocks/

you can see what performance you can expect from a HD 7970 Ghz or HD 7950(1.1 Ghz)

the HD 7950 boost does not run at 925 mhz (because of clock throttling) unless the power option is maxed to +20%. once you do that HD 7950 boost is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970 (925 Mhz)

the HD 7850 might be just enough for today's most demanding games. I have a HD 6950 2GB which i purchased in jan 2011 and can say from personal experience that now after close to 2 years this card is just enough for playing today's most demanding games like MOH Warfighter at high settings without MSAA . so think and decide. thumb.gif
