XSPC Raystorm D5 Kit Woes

Hey guys i got a big problem

I decided to jump on the WC bandwagon, and i bought this XSPC kit, https://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=20465

Now, i actually have 2 problems the first one is the rad doesn't fit with the Rampage IV Extreme.. So i need to sell this rad and get a slimmer one..

Will a 52mm rad give me enough headroom for a push/pull config?

The next problem is the D5 Dual Bay Reservoir just has NO PLACE to fit in the bay! *scracthes head*

The holes on the res do not line up to the ones on the case.. Am i missing something?

And the last issue is one NUT for the 2011 screws is completly screwed! Doesnt' catch to the threads as you screw it onto the block.. And i went to about 5 different hardware stores today and have not found a single one!!

Ideas?

Ok..... Well:

The First Problem:
You should've looked at the dimensions of the rad before buying it.....

to answer your question you could just get an EX series rad as they perform a tad bit better than the RX series rads... is there a reason you want to go push pull? if so measure how much room you have and measure how thick the rad's you are looking at.

2nd problem:
Well if it doesn't fit.... are you saying that it doesn't fit flush with your case? if so how far off is it? or is there no way it was meant to fit?

3rd problem:
if you just bought the kit and the screws don't work email XSPC and see what they can do for you. I have had excellent cs with XSPC.
Small wonder.

From the top of the case to the start of my RIVE, it is around 83mm give or take.. The first fan would just completely be obstructed by the 8-pin CPU connector. I'm assuming if i go with a 54mm rad + 25mm for the fans it adds to 76mm which could possibly work, I will go back and re check the measurements again later. But looking to see who here has a Switch 810 along with a Rampage IV Extreme and a 54mm rad in push/pull. I"ve been searching high and low online for about 15 hours and have not seen one relevant post to my issue lol..

Basically for the RES the holes on the res do not line up to the ones on my case (both with the quick release clips or without) So it just sits there all flimsy and not secured in at all... Surely its universal when it comes to mounting it in the 5'25" bay...

And it is flush with the front of my case it's just the holes do not line up so therefore unable to secure it in unfortunately.

Sounds like its time to mod the case to "make" the res fit lol.

well if your measurements are spot on then you have answered the question yourself lol.

No hard feelings but its just a few elementary stuff that could save you a bit of money on future purchases hope you get the screw situation resolved! thumb.gif

If you have a NZXT Switch 810 then check out this build log: Mass Effect 3 - NZXT Switch 810 Build Log. mybadomen is an award winning builder, has modded many cases, and can probably help you with questions and tips.

You may want to ask the shop you purchased the kit from if you can exchange the RX for a slimmer EX (35mm) or another radiator you like.

Also, please fill out your signature, in your profile, with your system specs and parts. It'll make it easier for people to help if the can see what you have...

Best of luck, -SS

a bloody 54mm rad wont even fit, I am really regretting gettnig a switch 810! I have 81mm from the top of my case to my rampage iv.. 54mm+25mm = still not small enough, and it's only because of the stupid 8 pin for the CPU!

Not happy at all.

Normal. I had to drill two new holes in my 550D just to mount the res/pump combo (H20 750). I know it's not the same model but I guess it also applies to the D5.

I've seen people just cut out a notch in the fan so that it fits around the 8 pin. That's what I am probably going to do when I get my bottom set of fans. Right now I am running push with the fans in the top of the case and a piece of cheese cloth as a filter. lol.

Not sure why.

I have 2 Switch 810's and on my RX360 80mm radiator, I'm only missing by 1-2mm on one of the fans. I'm going to shave the fan down a air to make it fit.

Not sure why you can't get a 54mm radiator and a 25mm fan to fit in that space ... unless your motherboard is much larger than my Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP7 motherboard.

Ah, sorry, now I see your problem. The location of the power connectors on the Rampage IV.

vs

Short of going with a individually sleeved CPU power cable, you might be hosed ... or just leave 1 of the fans out on the "push" side and run with 5 fans. That's what I have done for the moment on my rig, but I can easily shave a fan for the 1-2mm, you can't do that. A sleeved adapter may be your only option.

@47 knucklehead:

Sweet looking radiator. Where did you find an 80MM XSPC RX360? Did you paint it orange?

I've only seen different brands like these...?

Just curious as I'm thinking of getting one for another folding rig.
