You have an i7 Extreme with 12GB of RAM and SSD's. Why in the hell are you concerned with the application being a resource hog? It'll use less than 1GB and that's all that matters in your case.
Why are you concerned with it being "ugly"? The only time you ever have to look at it is when you run a virus scan and even then, you can just minimize it.
For just about every AV, you can turn off all alerts or make it so alerts only pop up when it finds a real virus. I don't get how "intrusive" is still a complaint.
Am I the only one that has used an actual antivirus program in the last 10 years?
