How much more radiator do I need? - Page 2

General rule of thumb is 1 120mm radiator equivalent per device cooled plus 1 120mm.

ie CPU only, a 120 x 2 radiator (ie 240) ... like you have now. A CPU and normal video card, 120 x 3 (ie 360 radiator). A CPU and a dual GPU video card, 120 x4 (ie 480 or 2 240), etc.

You could get away with a 120mm radiator, but if you got room, I'd go with another 240 radiator ... just in case ... that is if you can cram another one in that 500R case.

Thanks for all the responses. I could obviously fit a single fan 120 on the rear fan. But if I could cool an additional card on two 240's I would rather go with an additional 240 now since I'll probably end up with another card in the future. However I'm not sure where it would go.

Maybe y'all could help me with that. I do have a very short card, I'm guessing the shortest 670, it's not much more than about 6 inches long. I have 3 mechanical hard drives in the front right now and I'm about to add an SSD, so doubt I'd have room in the front. Where else could I put it?

say goodbye to the HDD racks and hello 240 rad. looks like anywhere else and you'll need a dremel or external. where is your rad now?

Haha yeah I was thinking the front might be the only place, where would the hard drives go though? And I would prefer not to cut up the case, not that I'm necessarily against it, I just don't have the time to devote to that kind of a project that I know I would need to make it look the way I want. The 240 I have just barely fits above the motherboard and the fans are inside the top compartment, so from top down it's screen>fans>bottom of compartment>rad>and the rad is right above the motherboard. I can post pictures if I need to.

Update: Decided to check the classifieds and a guy on the forum has a couple of rads for sale that look interesting. One is an rs240, same as mine, and the other is an alphacool nexxxos xt45 single fan rad which looks like a good one. The alphacool is 186x144x46, and I've got 140mm fan holes on the rear fan mount on the case, would that 144 mm diameter rad fit? And would it provide enough heat dissipation with a good fan to cool the video card, and possibly an additional one?
