On another note

--That sabertooth board looks great and has similar aspect to the Rive,

If I got a water 2 extreme + rive+ nzxt switch i think red and white looks ok? I mean i dont stare at my case all day from the side. I did my customwatercool kit stuff when I had the time and it mattered.

Alternative is go sabertooth and haf X just worried about the mounting of the radiator to the rest of the setup, have been looking for others who have that kind of rig or similar

Would like to get higher ram so that samsung ram can be clocked well in a good board, maybe past 2133.

By the rive i'm assuming you mean the rampage 4 extreme? Also i mean yes if you get the mobo and case for looks i believe they will look good together. If you do go for the sabertooth i dont think you will have much of an issue mounting the rad inside the haf X. It should have tons of room at the top of the case.

About the RAM i think anything past 2133 will be negligible in termps of performance increase. Also how much RAM do you plan on getting?

people have said that it works just top mount only. I was like say what? lol

I'm probably going to get this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231503 as its compatible with my board.

would like to get 32 gigs but I spent a lot of money on gifts- I didn't even plan on getting anything for myself

and then my board died so, there ya go.

The samsungs are also an option I would just be diy in terms of getting the clocks right. I guess thats tolerable.

Btw you dont need to buy a quad channel kit, it is identical to dual channel memory so they make you pay more for ram that is identical.

I know its just a gimmick. Thanks man, Its pretty messed up board manuals state you cant get 2 sets of a dual kit since you supposedly lose "stability" in some regard. I get it I mean they dont make that much money back in hardware, unless you are intel.

Yeah I got the 32 of the samsungs right now. The price for the whole rig ( seasonic 850 ) 2 ssds and the whole shabang came out to just shy of 2k frown.gif But at least I didnt pay 3,400 for a workstation I guess.

I am debating trying out 16gb first and if it bodes well will keep 2133. Going for a monitor and graphx card as well right now. 22inch LED ips looks good between 140-200 bux.

The card however is another 300 ( MSI 600TI )

660ti? are you going with the 3930k? But 2k for a system that should last a few years at least and be very competent is worth it since it will make its worth back because you will be able to do things at a faster rate due to the processing power.

No I know the investment usually comes back relatively quickly work wise. Usually one good freelance contract will repay for this pc in turn.

Yes between the shipping 2 extra fans, case, psu, 32gb ram, thermal paste 2 ssd and hopefully anything else I havent already forgotten about made it just shy of 2 grand.

There really isnt a futureproof anymore, even my old machine was pretty fast, just lacking due to the sata II. most people do quite well with a quad nowadays but 8 is workstation standard in 2008-10, now it just switched to 16. biggrin.gif
