If you check the link in my signature, it'll take you to a thread full of really helpful people that could explain and help you with every step of the process wink.gif I'll be honest, when I did mine I was really scared of messing up my chip at first, but in the end it was a lot easier than I expected, and I lowered my load temperatures by a whopping 30°C biggrin.gif
Mind you, I'm not saying you should do it, just that you might want to consider it, but if you're interested, make sure to take your time and read up as much as possible to reduce the risk of messing up smile.gif

Thanks for the option, but this is probably a little too much club for me. Especially since this is my work PC. It would be bad juju if I scrapped the CPU as I work on a tight margin.

Those temps are completely fine. I recently overclocked my i7-3770k to 4.6ghz and hit mid 80s with my 3770k at 4.5ghz.

You are good to go!

I can appreciate that, I would never have ended up delidding if I didn't have some money backed up in case I did end up scrapping my CPU accidentally. Would be nothing worse than ending up with a broken system you can't easilly fix again just because you were trying to get your hardware running a bit cooler frown.gif

Like many others have pointed out though, Ivy's do run a bit hotter than Sandy did, but considering they raised the max temp to 105°C now, there's really not much need to worry about the temperatures you're getting right now smile.gif

Another thing to keep in mind is that in real-world usage, temperatures rarely if ever get as hot as when you're stress-testing with programs like prime95 or Intel Burn Tester!

I'm running a 2600k @4.8 1.415 on a 212 Plus not the better EVO. My temps have never seen above 78c running prime after 6 hours in the summer time.

The first thing I would do is reseat the heatsink
The second thing I would do is put a second equal fan on it in a push pull config.

I think you could get much better temps with that 3770k at that voltage.

Dont worry about IB temps, they can hit 81º with no hassle, as SB has it in 72º. Also IB chips are hotter than SB chips, those temps are completely normal.

I tried one i5 3570k and had 88º at 4.6º 1.29v, same chip after modding (changing the IHS) it lowered to an amazing 67º.

All under water of course.
