Second monitor on a second GPU

Thread Starter
I'm currently running A GTX 680 together with an old AMD x-series GPU.
I have my second monitor connected with AVI to the AMD card since the 680 doesn't have an AVI port (can't buy an adapter atm).

The second monitor shows up in the "Screen Resolution" in the "Control Panel" and i can move programs to the second screen, but there's no picture on the second monitor.
When i check the advanced settings for the second monitor, it claims that the "Adapter" for the screen is the GTX 680.

I have also tried installing the "Catalyst Control Center" for the AMD card, but in the "Display adapters" section in the "Device Manager" it shows as "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" and a new "Video Controller" has been added to the "Other Devices" list.

Is there any way to solve this? smile.gif

I don't mean to sound rude, but to truly fix the problem, you need to get a monitor that supports DVI. AVI is an out-dated interface, and for all intents and purposes it is dead.

If you really want to, you can adapt the DVI (White) port on the GTX 680 to VGA (Blue) and then VGA to AVI. Here is a link to the two adapters you will need. There won't be a major image quality loss, but I can't guarantee that it will be crystal clear.

DVI-VGA: (US) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812196180
VGA-AVI: (US) http://www.amazon.com/LE-TV-Out-S-Video-Cable-Adapter/dp/B000P3UB24/ref=pd_sim_e_7

You need to, at all costs, get the old AMD card out of your system. Mixing cards like that can lead to blue screens and instability.

Congrats on having a 680! How do you like it?
