Phenom 955 BE 3.2-4Ghz OC Help.

Okay, so I've just finished tweaking my overclock. I've managed to get 4Ghz out of this cpu, on a stock cooler (Up from 3.2Ghz).

Been running Prime95 (x64) for about 12 hours, and my temp is around 65-63 degreese. (Max) It idles around 35.

This has all been done with out touching the vCore at all. I'm going to be adding a H80-or H100 CPU Water-cooling kit soon, and was wondering if 65 degrees is anything to worry about.

The reason for the watercooling is because I'm going to push it further. Maybe 4.5? Since the vCore has not been touched at all and this has been running prime for 12 hours with no crash at 4Ghz i dont see why not.

Back to the question, is 65 under 100% prime load fine?

No, get a cheap cooler like the recomended coolermaster 212 Evo or something like that, 65 is like 3 degrees over the recomended for AMD, and better keep it cooL&quiet wink.gif

Keeping in mind that its 65 under 12 hours of prime, at 100%.

Nothing even comes close to that gaming wise.

I would say under gaming load it caps 55 if that.

Well, then I guess it's fine, however I'd still go for the cooler as it's cheap and will keep your chip cooler and quieter but, up to that point, it's more of a personal preference.

what is your vcore ?
im sorry but i personally need to see screenshots of temps, vcore and under prime load. stock cooler and staying 65* stable 12 hours in prime at 4ghz ? on a 955 ?
remember to put your ocn name in the screenshot.
maybe thermal throttling on the vrm causing the speed to drop AND staying 65* ?

Board revision? 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 3.0?
Doubt you'll hit 4.5Ghz by the way, the average C3 Phenom II probably hits 4Ghz, select few hit 4.2, rarely they hit 4.5.
