I'm still waiting for ARMA 2, Crysis 1 and other games to be tested....

Why is it that the only games AMD fans benchmark is multi-threaded games? And on top of that it's always the same games....

uh.... I benchmark games that 1. I have and 2. I play. How is either Powermonkey or I a fan either way, both have said based on results provided that the intel chip is better, granted the intel chip needed to be delidded and so probably is no longer under warranty, but I have never had a chip fail so I am not bothered about that.

I have Far Cry 3 plus the following:

If you want any of them I am happy to do it, I have ordered Crysis 2 off of amazon because it was relatively cheap. if you are looking for us to do a bias setting towards either team then you are on the wrong thread, we are interested in giving fair information on games that we play. We are in 2012 and personally I haven't played any game this year that isn't a current title.

And no not "Everything" is a port. All of the games he tested are not ports. Far Cry 3 isn't a port. You don't see credible benchmarking websites using large console ports to benchmark a GPU/CPU. Why? Because most ports don't make for a very enjoyable game or utilize the PC components properly. Name 5 relevant ports that everyone plays without issue and i'll believe you. Don't say "All the Assassins Creed games"

Skyrim is a port, Call of duty games are ports, Bioshock's a port, Alan wake is a port... Silent Hill is a port... There's loads of straight ports that run just fine......

Intel system have no problems at all running GTA4.... AMD on the other hand have gone backwards with the FX series...... High IPC and decent multi-threaded performance what GTA4 needs to shine, AMD have the mutli-threaded performance but don't have the IPC.

Just look at how much faster the lower clocked i7 is compared to the Core 2 Quad, If you want to play GTA4 then I strongly suggest you ditch your FX CPU.

Our testing showed that the AMD won in BF3 in both single GPU and crossfire, how is that bias towards intel?funny thing is if I turn my processor down to a 6 core it matches the Intel in F1, sleeping dogs is obviously a game where the intel chews up AMD it won by 9fps, but still the AMD was more than playable and it's frame rates doubled by running in crossfire. That to me is still acceptable performance...

I think a lot of people are missing the point of this thread, it is based on what each CPU can do with crossfire as opposed to a single GPU, I can't cherry pick crysis one for you because I doubt crossfire will make any difference to the game? like F1 2012 the only relevance of that test was to show you that having crossfire will actually slow it down...

That benchmark is so far from relevant it's not even funny. It's seriously testing the Core i7 920 (Released in 2008) the ORIGINAL AM2+ Phenom CPU's (2007) and the Core 2 Quad (2007). How does that reflect the FX-8350 vs Core i7 3770k/Core i5 3570k performance AT ALL? Just look how much faster the 920 is than the Core 2 Quad! LOL!!!!!! Of course it's much faster - it was a much newer much more complex architecture and literally the best you could get back then.

Talk about cherry picking and biases....rolleyes.gif

The Core 2 Quad still has higher IPC then Bulldozer and all the Phenom 2 CPU's.....

performance gap is still going to be the same on newer CPU's.... maybe even more so with Ivy and Sandy as they overclock much higher then the 920 does...

You seriously need to do some research......

My point is - suggest a relevant PC game to test. A REAL Dignified PC game. Not a game that's obviously going to run MUCH better on an Intel platform like you've stated. I mean seriously... talk about cherry picking. You have a serious bias for Intel. You should really work that out of your system because it won't get you far in this economy. Want to see some relevant benchmarks? Simply go to PAGE 1 of this thread and scroll down. Then go to the news section and look at the Far Cry 3 benchmarks posted. Those are relevant. Irrelevant benchmarks for an irrelevant console port is a irrelevant point.

I'm going to sleep. It's 4AM here. I'd be more than happy to continue this discussion tomorrow but I need some sleep.

Yeah I don't get why you have to be bias towards one side, I like AMD and I will always have an AMD rig BUT because of these results for my own interest I am going to get a caselabs magnum th10 and 2 8990's (if they surface) along with a Haswell or broadwell just to see what the other guys are offering, I'll also upgrade to steamroller when it comes out and I'll do this test again though it will take some integrity away by not having a honest associate like powemonkey.
