Finding someones IP

this is probably a VERY stupid question, but is there a way to find somebody's IP if you have an e-mail from them

Well, the eaisest and most legal way would be to contact thier ISP if the email address is from the ISP, or contact the email provider for info on them to find out the ISP. Sometimes they'll be cooperative, but often they'll be tight-lipped. (For good reason.)

It might also be worth noting tat this is borderline on the TOS, so I'd watch the way things are said to avoid the thread getting deleted.

try enabling full mime in your internet options, or through hotmail. it will give you the most information, and yes, you will get the originating IP so long as they arent spoofing

You are absolutely correct. For some reason I thought the headers only showed the IP of the mail server. Thanks for pointing that out.
