Rigid acrylic tubing?

Thread Starter
Ok so I have google searched for two hours thinking I'd be able to find a definitive answer, but alas no luck. I've seen a couple pictures here and there of builds with a rigid, acrylic tubing being used instead of the flexible stuff. I love the idea because I prefer straight lines. Now my question is how the heck to I connect it? Would the Bitspower Crystal Link fittings be good enough for all connections or is there some other fitting I am overlooking?

You would use the crystal links (the longer ones) and they are 12mm ID... The thing to be careful of when going harlined with crystal links is that the only thing holding the links in is pressure (no clamp like on compression fittings)... I would look up kier and look at his builds (since he does quite a bit of crystal links in builds)... I may even make a guide when I do my build (depends how good I am at it wink.gif)

EDIT: angled fittings and extenders will also be needed to make the turns and for the gaps too short for the crystal links to fit

You could also buy acrylic tubing in bulk. You will need to know how to work it and join parts.

i been looking all day. copper tubing sections combined with angled fittings and standoff mounts were looking good for a moment, i also found some info on PVC tubing that's rigid http://www.usplastic.com/catalog/item.aspx?itemid=24353, so it's available just nobodys using it in PC's (yet;))

have to agree on the straight lines part, i'm sold on the combination of rigid tubes for straight sections and flexible tubing for others. looks too pro to ignore.

will keep looking into it in any case.

Now looking at this it says the ID of the crystal link is 10mm, am I to assume that 12mm just fits?

it is 100% 12mm ID... frozen CPU gets their specs messed up sometimes tongue.gif... here kier confirms it

http://www.overclock.net/t/1230839/sponsored-caselabs-magnum-m8k/60#post_18219234

that 10mm ID probably came from that the crystal links themslves are 12mm OD and 10mm ID
