Looking for a Reliable 1155 board - Page 2

Intel boards are bad value and not the best OCers, but generally reliable. Current EVGA boards suffer from BIOS bugs.

Gigabyte tests each board, but doesn't do OC tests on each individual board. OC tests are mostly for marketing anyway.

I am in the same boat as my Asus board all of a sudden will not post after installing my 650ti card. I get the red memory light on the board and it will not even go to post or give me video. Took the card out and just hooked up the on board and same thing, I got a new set of memory and the same thing so I'm hoping this board just died and not my CPU having issues.

From what I have read lately Asus RMA is a big pain to deal with and chances are they will try to charge you for service even under warranty so I'm just going to get a new board and chuck this in the can and be don with the company for good. One board/company that was not mention is the ASRock Z77 Extreme3 that Newegg has for $109 right now.

Z77X-D3H was $99 last week, and a much better board... MSI Z77A-GD55 and Biostar TZ77XE3 were also around $120. It's going to take some time for these deals to appear again though.

The MSI Z77A-GD55 is now discontinued so that option is out. I have used Gigabyte boards in the past. They are solid performers and the board itself seemed very heavy and sturdy unlike my Asus board. They are ok for stock to light overclocks but (at least my UD3P) was lacking in comfortable tweaking.

AsRock was a company that I thumbed my nose at when I got my Asus board last year because I had never heard of them before but they seem to have a nice and solid rep now for a board that is normally 25% cheaper than the major company counterparts.

ASRock Z68 were just top notch. Basically Extreme4 had true 8 phase VRM design with very nice mosfets.

Not true with their Z77 Extreme boards. They mostly use analog 4 phase PWM with mosfets from terrible to good. Not the best value for money anymore.

I am not sure if GD55 is discontinued or just sold out. $110 for that board during BF and CM was hard to ignore.

Guys, i am having trouble loading the CPU compatibility list for the MSI Z77 MPower. I know it supports 1155 but I just want to make sure it fully supports my i5 2500k (just in case i decide to get this board)

TIA

It does. It supports every possible LGA1155 non server CPU. I am not sure how well it will run Xeon.

The Z77 MPower and P8Z77-V PRO are the two motherboards I would recommend ~$200. They are certainly loaded with features and the aesthetics are great. Your pick.

Features and looks are secondary to reliability for me. I have absolutely no faith in Asus anymore. The V series and up for all Asus boards are touted as the best, but they are completely lacking in the quality control department it seems. Either that, or i am vastly unlucky and emotional about my loss.

I need a hard and fast suggestion that if acted upon, will not lead me to later regret.

PS. The P8Z68 V-Pro was heavily endorsed on this forum at the time of my research in 2011 when I need a new board.
