Tips for my job

Thread Starter
I recently got a small part time gig at my work maintaining their intranet pages (a system called Confluence, kinda like Wiki) and writing VBScript ASP forms. I do it 5 hours a week, with the expectation that I will be at 20 hours a week in some months time here. I can hardly do everything the previous employee was doing, since he was doing it for 20 hours a week.

My question is, what does someone expect to get paid for this kind of work? I'm still getting my warehouse pay of $12.75...

I appreciate it. I have no formal education but I've been able to write fully functional forms and pages that look better than what's already there, so apparently I can do it well.

Granted, that's an estimate. If you can prove you are worth more, than you can of course go higher. If it's low hours, you might want to ask for/expect more.

I've not dealt with .NET technologies as I tend to stick with *nix environments for any web services I run. However, I normally don't do any programming or scripting for less than $20/hr. Then again, it does greatly depend upon your competency level and how important you and your work is to the company you're working for. If you're producing something that anyone can learn to do in a weeks worth of training, odds are you're not going to get paid the higher rates...

Yeah depending on experience. It seems like you're doing mostly maintenance work so I wouldn't expect over $20/hr.
