I have GTS 450's with 1GB and they are not really enough for gaming on a single screen. I would definitely not suggest a 512MB one. What is your budget?

$70 max, it's a christmas present for someone who play mostly older games and some more recent games like maybe call of duty (I max out textures @ 1680x1050 in black ops no problem on my gts450 1gb) but from what i understand, the extra video memory will make it perform much better at higher resolutions. this is also the reason im looking at the cheapest gddr5 cards you can get, slower memory is bad for high resolution.
