Disc Read Problems

Thread Starter
Amongst all the craze over PS3 last week, I was forced to go without it even though I am a big time Playstation fan. So, I decided to pick up a 360. So far, I've only purchased and played one game on it, Need for Speed Carbon. I've heard of some others having this problem, but I'm not sure exactly what I should do. Some days, it will Disc read problems, and will say the disc is dirty. The system and the game are brand new with no scratches or smudges or anything on them. It only has these problems on some days (considering it's only been a week), and it didn't really worry me until I had won a boss race and won his car, only for my 360 to have a disc read problem. I was forced to restart it, and it DIDN'T save my progress. At that point, I started to get worried.

What should I do regarding this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I will probably end up doing that anyways.

Another question though. If I wanted to keep my game progress, is there any way I can save the information from my 360 harddrive onto one of my computers, or something? Or a flash drive? I'm not very familiar with the 360's capabilities being a Sony fan.

One thing you could try is reseating the power cable into it's socket.

As for transferring items from your HDD to the PC there is a device that will supposedly let you do this on the market. I forget who makes it but there is something out there.

"Power off and unplug your console, then remove the Hard Disk Drive unit and any attached Memory Units, then reconnect your console and try the disc again. If this appears to resolve the issue, power down and disconnect your console, re-attach the HDD and/or MU, then delete any saved games for the game title in question. Note If you can, save the games to a separate memory unit."

Yet again , M$ fails us all... lol
