I watched a bunch of iPhone 5 vs S3 videos and here's what I've found:
- iPhone loads most apps faster
- iPhone loads most web pages faster
- iPhone has a better camera
- iPhone has better built in speakers
- iPhone has a better display (in terms of quality, not size)
- iPhone has a better microphone
Also I like the size and form factor of the iPhone. I just feel like I'd enjoy Android more, but with all those advantages going to the iPhone 5, its hard.
Seems like you have not accepted the fact that MOST reviews/people that review are (cr)Apple biased?
Have you READ reviews from different places also? Are any of those comparisons on the same exact network at the same time? I mean, web pages can load fast/slow at any point on any device. The frame of the iPHail 5 will scratch/break just looking at it funny. And is the camera really any better. Have the photos taken from both devices been put in the same computer and viewed side by side? In theory, the same res photo on a smaller screen is going to "look better" .
As stated before, you are able to do what you want, but why do you want to support a company that sues it's competition just because they are being outsold?
Did you know that (cr)Apple has a "no resale" policy (obviously resellers they have agreements with are different), which means you really arent allowed to sell your device. In most cases nothing happens, but if they believe you have the intent to sell their products you are going to buy they will not sell to you. Did google sue (cr)Apple for using their drop-down notification bar? No. The original (cr)Apple OS was based on unix which is supposed to be open. Yet, they lock all their crap, try and patent anything and everything so they can sue everyone else. And, they used LTE, which was partial patent by Verizon and HTC and whomever else.

(cr)Apple's hardware is made for their shenanigans only. Spanning over devices there are hundreds of different roms for android OS devices. You should be free to do what you want

I would agree with the vast majority of that. I too don't like overly large sized phones. I just came from an Atrix (also a 4" screen size, but shorter than the iPhone 5).
I used my dad's GS3 for a day and it wasn't more than a few minutes before I got used to the size of it. I now have a Lumia 920 and surprisingly, I can easily type messages/emails on it 1 handed, and it is just about the same size as the GS3.

Camera, yes definitely better. The GS3 I used didn't represent the colors very close at all. Some were too warm, and others too cool, and in the same picture too. One reason I went with the Lumia 920.
Speakers and Microphone, I don't know. I have an iPhone 5 here I am selling, but I haven't used it to test against the other phones to see. In all honesty, I don't know how much of a difference you would notice on a daily basis, but being aware of it does make it more likely you would be bothered by it.

Both displays are nice, but the iPhone 5 looks too much like the 4/4s to me. The GS3 is nice, but still, the best display I have seen on a phone is the 920 ( higher refresh rate, better pixel density, and colors)

As far as the web pages and apps opening faster, that is more of an OS difference than a hardware difference. The GS3 was likely running ICS in the videos you watched? JB is a bit smoother and more efficient so the differences should be less. If you like the Opera web browser better, you can get it on the GS3 as well.

I don't know if any of that helped or not, lol. Based on everything above, there are still advantages of each over the other.
My personal suggestion, break out the pen and paper. List the things that are most important to you in a phone in order. Then write out which phone is better at each. If that doesn't do it, lol, then I say flip a coin lol.

While I agree with much of what you wrote, in all honesty, your post is too biased to be considered on this topic.
Remember, this thread isn't about you and your views, but about the OP finding a device he is happy with...

Just saying...

everything he said was true. all true. i dont really consider it bias if its exactly the cold hard facts. but to sum up Mr Bear, Apple is a douchebag. thats all their is to it.I mean who came up with the iPad mini.... its the thing in between ipad and the itouch......

As per OP, u cant just read one review and call it a day. u have to read multiple reviews on each phone. then ull be able to get a more balanced review of the 2 phones. From there id suggest making a list of each phones pros and cons. Then weigh out how much each factor matters to u and make a decision based on that.

What I use my phone for:

E-mail:
Honestly not entirely sure which is better here. My iPhone handles e-mail quite well, it's push, it works, I don't know what else to say.

Music:
I don't think either would be better really... but I already have everything set up for iTunes so it would be a bit easier if I got an iPhone.

Text:
Don't know here, this really comes down to typing. I'm assuming Android is better since there are more keyboard options?

Twitter:
Seems to load a bit faster on iPhone.

FaceBook:
Same as Twitter.

Browser:
iPhone is faster, but Android is bigger...

Camera:
From what I've seen the iPhone is a little better.

Emulator:
I like playing old Pokemon games on my phone here and there. Currently iPhone 5 has no jailbreak...

Is there a better option available from Bell currently than the S3 in terms of Android?

Will the S3 run much faster with custom ROMs and whatnot?

u mentioned apps loading faster in milliseconds??? If u keep ur phone in good strength and condition, ur phone shudnt be slowing down that much. I mean my Incredible S ive used for 2 years, hasnt slowed down all too much. if u consider milliseconds faster then u need to readjust faster then because u will not notice milliseconds i can guarantee u that.
For web pages, r u really that impatient that u cant wait an extra 2 seconds??? tongue.gif

I'm making my decision on the performance and features of the device, not the philosophies of the developer.

When I say milliseconds I'm not talking about 2ms, I mean closer to several hundred milliseconds. I've read multiple reviews and I've watched several comparison videos.

So the difference is extremely minimal between the 2 phones. as for music, are ur songs payed? cuz if they arent it is just as simle as finding the files on ur computer C or D drive or whatever. Then setting ur phone up to mass storage device and drag and drop. Even easier than itunes smile.gif

Better options: i havent really read much other phones but the 8X but that doesnt really help u here. One phone i know for sure is better than the S3 for android is the Note 2 but like u said u want portability so thats also out. Maybe someone cud input on the Xperia T and Optimus G.

I don't understand the point of debating which one is better. If you like iOS pick up a iphone. Samsung Galaxy S3 is a great android phone but the phone itself is not the entire android system. Unlike apple, you get choices with android. Samsung wants you to think that it owns every android but that isn't the truth. Verizon would love for you to think that every android was a droid. The SGS3 isn't the best android device anymore.

I wouldn't care if the iphone was 1,000 times faster than my current android device because I still wouldn't use it. Even if all the bugs were fixed. I'd still prefer the open design and phone choices of android. All I expect out of my phones is to run the apps I wish for them to run and give me a nice display in which to stare at.

Before android came along I was a windows mobile fan up until 7.0 when Microsoft went all Apple on us with the features. I would love to have more open systems beyond android to choose from when picking my next device.
