Difficult to give pathology for, some days it is heavier than others. but nothing sticks out like new components or anything. Maybe after i switched to the MSI mobo from a gigabyte one about 2 months ago. I thought it was the PSU cause when i got the 700 Watt i ran clean for a bout 2-3 weeks, then the problems came back about 2 days ago.

The switch issue I mentioned, rare but it happens... found both
Defective switch
Plastic case button sticking and the vibration caused reboots du to the plastic button's pressure on the switch.

yeah the switch problem sounds logical, The fact that it turns on immediately after being powered off sometimes makes me lean toward the switch problem. though other suggestions would be very much appreciated. thanks guys.

As well, just because you have a new PSU you are not isolated from PSU issues. If the PSU was installed and now the issues are happening it is very possible that the PSU "IS" the issue.

If you do not find the switch to be the issue, then I would replace the PSU and see if the issue still remains.

If the same issue was there prior I would agree with you. You have been unclear about this though so I wouldn't be so sure myself as anytime a new addition of anything to a system causes issues creates a suspicion of the new addition. Was this issue happening before the replacement of the PSU?

Are you overclocked? If so, does this issue continue when you remove all overclocking from your system?

You say that you changed the motherboard. You might easily have a wonky board voltage regulation circuitry.

ah yes my appologies, the problem was present with my 450W antec smartpower, this led me to beleive i was lacking power cause calculators said i need like 423W so i went and got the 700W gameXstreme PSU. the motherboard is fresh from RMA though that might not prove much. And i am overclocked. So how's this sound for steps to testing.

1. Pulling out the power and reset switches and shorting the pins to start

2. Reinstall video drivers and check video card attatchment

3. Raise Vdimm

4. Remove all Overclocking (videocard + mobo)

I agree. With the system out of the Case switch loop and all clocks down to stock you have a good beginning for testing. Was the issue there prior to the new Motherboard installation?

I'm not too sure, but as you can see, I'm on the non SLI version of the MSI K8N NEO 4 Platinum and it's fine. as to your question about monitoring CPU temps, use the CDs that came with the mobo, insert it into the drive and go to utilities, see if you can find something called CoreCenter, it tells you CPU temp, system temp, and the voltages and the speed of your CPU. if it's not on the CD , go here, I know it's for the non sli version but I see no reason why this program shouldn't work. also as mentioned above, check the switch is working properly, a friend of mine was about to get a new setup but then found out the switch was not working right so it wouldn't turn on.
