Random Reboots driving me nuts - Page 3

Thread Starter
Ok so yesterday i removed the reset and power on button from the mobo, (i boot with a nail clipper now). It is still overclocked aswell again prime95 runs for about 10 hours. I'm planning on running like this for a week or so to see if the problem of random reboots was a power switch issue. Also, to find if its a software issue, i've told windows to not restart if there is a failure (control panel => system => advanced => startup and recovery). Still a weird thing when i shut down though, when i click shutdown from windows. the system powers off, (my coldcathodes flick off) so i figure that means it the system completely powers off for a split second, then everything comes to life again and it boots up. any ideas?

Sounds like a board issue to me. Check your BIOS settings and set them to default. Remove your overclock. If this issue still remains then it is integral to the board. If it doesn't then it is integral to the BIOS/Overclock.

the problem for me its random, sometimes it does it for days straight and than it just stops doing it. than later it starts again, i think it has to be software because i tested all the hardware and nothing came out bad.

ok so i ended up getting 2 HDs and put htem in raid_0, and left the old large HD as the storage. I don't have random reboots or shutdown issues ne more. the original problem i never found out what the cause was, but it's gone now that i've put in the new HDs and am using the old one as storage. but now i can't OC yet cause i gotta figure out why i can't change my FSB without killing the POST.
