Major Leakage

First time I've had a bad leak little nervous about it. Just bought a new 3770k with an asrock extreme 4 z77, I was in a bit of a hurry and didn't fully tighten a fitting on my CPU block. About an hour after I started my leak test, I saw a massive puddle on one of my video card, stopped and dried everything with a towel, and tightened everything up properly. I guess it wasn't that bad, the water barely made it to the bottom of the case before I caught it, but this is the first time I've ever gotten a computer component wet. I also removed my video cards and checked the card slot and they looked dry. There's a box fan on it now, and I'm completing my leak test, probably going to start it up tomorrow morning.

Should I be concerned? This hasn't happened to me before, and it's driving me nuts, especially being brand new hardware and all. Then again, when a was a kid my mom threw my original Nintendo out into the snow, she got pissed off because I was playing it too much , I recovered it the next spring and it still worked, lol.

I would disconnect the power and let it dry out for a couple of days mate. I have in the past used a hair dryer to dry things out, but I reakon you might me ok.

Give the cards some time to dry. The rest should be just fine man. Are the cards water cooled?

The cards are water-cooled, after a thorough inspection with a flashlight everything appears to be dry, just gonna leave a fan on it overnight; it has probably been dry for a hour or two now, but I want to be sure, but damn, this has really gotten me raddled.

Nothing besides a small itx psu for my pump was plugged thank goodness, and nothing has been plugged in for at-least 24 hours so most of the capacitors should have lost their charge(my knowledge is limited though).

I've had water leak on my graphics cards before, the one that got leaked on is still working fine. Ironically enough, the one that wasn't leaked on is the one that just recently failed, lol.

More than likely you'll be okay. I asked because water can get trapped inside the stock coolers very easily and be missed, frying your card when you turn the system on.

It's Alive!!!

Everything is up in running, everything in working order, sooooooo relieved, just finished installing windows and all of my drivers, time to take a break.

Just one question is 32c a good temp for a 3770k, at idle, at default settings (all cores underclokecd at 1600mhz) Just seems a hair high, to me, I'm using an EK supreme HF with more rad space than I'll ever need(a 420, 240 and a 280).

And the funny thing is my monitor just died about 10 minutes ago lol, god damn thought my gpu was dead, all of the sudden, oh well now I get buy a new monitor, get somthing nice treat my-self after all this is a new build why not pair with a nice new display.

edit: just picked up a 27in Acer open box from best buy, only 240 beans, absolutely nothing wrong with it. Far better than my old monitor brighter, clearer bigger, contrast is wonderful everything is sooo vibrant wow, lighter and thinner too, weighs almost half the amount my of my now dead hannspree 25 inch.

You should be fine as long as you've turned it off straight away when you found the leak. Let it dry for a day or two,
I once had a major leak when I was stil putting all the fittings together, I've forgotten to close the top rad and I left it nearly half a day
Had my asrock z77 ex6 wet all over! Including the gpu though luckily I've backplate on frown.gif
Still on til this point ... tongue.gif
