I have an AMD 8320 cpu on a Gigabyte 990fxa ud3 am3+ mobo on which I installed 2 x4 GB of 1333Mhz DDR3 memory in sockets 1 and 3 of the Mobo. I intend to replace this with 2 x4 GB of 1866Mhz DDr3 memory. My question is whether I can use the 1333Mhz memory in conjunction with the 1866Mhz memory or must it all be the same? I plan on installing the 1866Mhz memory in sockets 1 and 3 and would use the 1333Mhz memory in sockets 2 and 4, if that matters. Thanks for any input or advice.

as long as they have the same timings, i believe that you can use both sets of ram, but it will downclock the 1866 to 1333

use slot 1 and 2 for one set and 3 and 4 for the other
this will activate dual channel mode which is a little better performance
u can use them all together but stability isnt guaranteed
