GTX 670 ASIC quality question

Thread Starter
Hi everyone! smile.gif

I just checked out my ASIC quality on my GTX 670's and I was disappointed to say the least...

NOTICE: I have changed my bios to an unlocked one, on both cards. I don't know if this has anything to do with the result or not.

GPU1: 73.5%
GPU2: 74.3%

So, is this level even acceptable? I have seen many on OCN here with near perfect scores when they check ASIC (Like 97-99%).

Should/Can I return my cards as "faulty" because of this?

Thanks for your help!

Well how does the card overclock? I've heard that asic quality doesn't really give a good indication of the amount of over clock on the card. You'd be wasting ur time returning the card...

They don't really OC well, actually not good at all.. Getting 1176mhz barely (unstable in some games), with increased volt from the bios mod.
Stock I could get 1140-1150mhz, so not a good OC'er!

Asic quality doesn't mean anything

ASIC quality on my jetstream 680 was 96%. overclocked like crap (that changed with the bios mod but still not a very impressive OC with 1.21v) my gtx 670 had a 70%+ ASIC quality but overclocked much better.

my 480 SLI's were the same. they had different ASIC quality but the lower one oc'd better than the other one

in that case then maybe the ASIC quality reading were right. that's a pretty low overclock with the bios mod frown.gif

I've had worse. my GTX 560 Ti wasn't even stable at stock. I had to bump the voltage a bit. it can't oc for peanuts even a 15mhz bump the drivers will crash in some games it didn't matter how much voltage I added. I hated that card. sold it in less then a month

Sometimes I feel that ASIC quality is really misleading. I only get 78.4% on my Gigabyte 560 Ti, but I am able to break the 1 Ghz barrier with it and the only reason I can't go further is because newest drivers throttle it past 1 Ghz. rolleyes.gif I know this doesn't apply to your situation because clearly having OC problems, but I just thought I'd throw that out there. Goodluck!

1ghz 560 Ti...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I hate gtx 560 Ti's. when I bought mine I was expecting a good overclocking card from what I've read from forums and reviews. I bought one asap then when I tried overclocking I was immensely dissapointed. I have a special hate for 560 Ti's. I wouldn't even buy one even if it's a good deal biggrin.gif

Well cheers guys!

From what I understand it matters more on Kepler than the older cards, either way its a ****ty overclocker and I am mad about it lol tongue.gif

This is not the first bad overclocker I have had, you know the AMD 5870's where out, I had 6 different ones and none would even OC 1mhz.... Really NONE OF THEM... All different brands and types, explain that one for me eh?

Luckily this is not THAT bad, but still its not cool to have such a ****ty clocker when everyone else gets 1200mhz++.

Also nice OC on that 560 TI insanity! Seems like you have gotten a golden chip smile.gif

Haha, it's definitely beginning to show its age, even with the massive clocks it has on it. I think I just got lucky with the silicon lottery...! tongue.gif But then again I've never been disappointed with a Gigabyte product.

Thanks... You wouldn't believe the amount of time/effort I had to put in to get it... redface.gif (P.S. It's on air) If you really want to see some MASSIVE 560 Ti clocks for kicks, head over here!

You have probably seem the near perfect score from old versions of GPUz, they read kepler cards wrong, I went from 93% with the old gpuz to 70%, and my card does overclock fairly well so I would not worry about it imo.

1200 vs. 1150mhz isn't that big of jump tbh. I know we're overclockers so it would pain us more than the average person will but don't worry about it too much. heck even my 1200mhz to 1267mhz(after bios mod) wasn't even a big jump thumb.gif

two gtx 670's are still monsters thumb.gif
