[HEX] The $99 ASUS Jellybean tablet - Page 4

At the price point, I may consider one. I've yet to jump onto the smartphone bandwagon, didn't think I'd get enough use out of it. But for something to play around on the internet with before bed/work, it looks good.

I have thrown every Android product I had, in a drawer or smashed them, before buying a new one. That is 7 phones, 3 tablets.. anyone have me beat? (I am single, zero children and each device was used/abused by Me). Not to mention, owning an Apple iPhone too. Point was, I have had the same cell # for 23 years and only in the last 5 years was there a need to keep buying more & more due to cheap quality phones perpetuated by Android ecosystem. Granted, in the last 5~6 months quality has been a concern and newer phones & tablets are alot better.

Again... if my words hurt you^, then perhaps it's because your fragile ego is stepping-in to defend your buying decision..(?) As there is little to argue, with the fact that both Apple & Microsoft offer real product with their Operating Systems..!

If u have never used an iPhone, or a WinRT device, then u r unable to have an opinion, or a rebuttal.

PS: sorry to thread crap, but claiming I am a "hater", when I have the ability to separate emotion from my purchases is absurd!  Those who love Android, do so because they are emotionally attached to their device.... (ie: Fandroids)

(Q: If Win8 phones/tablets were Free, would you use that as your only phone/tablet?)
I just can't stop laughing at how this guy still confuses a phone OS kernel for manufacturing quality. This is the cutest account on OCN right now.

For $99 is going to be a TN panel like the absurdly expensive Acer A110, which for all practical purposes makes it unusable, since the viewing angle is so small its not even readable in portrait mode.

What bother's me the most is build quality. In the last 2-3 years EVERY asus product I have bought has needed an RMA. we are talking everything from mobo's to CD/DVD drive's failing. in less than 6 months my sig rig mobo started showing sign's of crap build quality. That scare's me!
I will be horribly worried if Google allow's this "thing" to carry the "Nexus" branding. Google should push Motorola into the tablet business with a "budget" tablet in this range, They own it after all...

I almost couldn't stop laughing the entire time I read this tripe.

You went on some tirade about being an adult, and with 20 years of experience, etc, etc, yet while being an "adult" managed to make extremely broad generalizations and assumptions. Only to follow by admitting that you essentially threw a fit like a child, breaking your phones and other devices.

Really?

Look, it is abundantly clear that you lack maturity in emotion and self control; That you feel somehow bragging about your perceived accomplishments validates your statements, and somehow negates ours. The truth is, we don't need to claim you are a "hater", you simply prove that yourself. Even Apple Fanboys freely admit that Android is a perfectly fine OS, they just feel that iOS is better, or better for them. So to simply say it is trash, like you so vehemently are, is just nonsense.

Further more, I absolutely call you out on having the same Cell number for 23 years; In 1989 there were just over 3,500,000 Cell subscribers in the US (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0933563.html), now take into account that the providers of the time have since gone out of business, merged, or otherwise evolved, including changing their prefixes. You are lying, period.

This is further made evident by the fact that with the introduction of Overlay Plans, for assigning phone numbers to geographic regions, that mobile devices now use exchange codes specific to them, and you could only recently transfer phone numbers from carrier to carrier, you simply aren't going to have the same number from 23 years ago.

Sorry, no dice buddy. Lying, throwing fits and breaking devices, nothing you can say at this point will have any weight behind it. You have made a mockery of yourself....

EDIT:

I forgot to mention; Apple is known, it is their thing, to roll out a new "i" device every few months. You are saying that the entire industry that produced Android is bad because every 6 months there is a new device, yet one company has a refresh cycle just as aggressive as dozens of manufactures. On a per capita basis (company to device) Apple produces more hardware revisions than anyone.

I just can't believe you can sit there and actually believe that it is OK for Apple to push out devices at the same rate as an entire industry made of dozens of manufacturers, it is beyond me. It really is...

The jellybean gui exists, to fuel yearly google phones sales.

People use to buy phones once every 5 years... and expensive worthwhile phones, made by companies that knew quality. Now a vast majority of the children, only know throw-away stuff.

As you can see, anything Android is simply cheap throw-away stuff..  they are disposable.
Like another said here,  : "What is the point, my cell phone can do the same..!"

So what is the point of this $99 tablet?
Other than being dirt cheap (that even a 5th grader w/paper route can own), why?  Again, other than saying you own a tablet why bother with it..? Most people with bother with it, is because they can now claim they own something.
Unfortunately, ownership based on need...

But Google creates a want...  via marketing.  The fact that it is $99 bucks and several ******* here, said they want it based solely on price, illustrates adolecent behavior. What does this tablet do for you, that your fandroid phone doesn't?

Can we laugh now?

lol are you for real? Can we start laughing at you? Price is a huge decision maker for plenty of people. Just take a look at the LG Nexus 4. It's selling out like crazy because of its price point in the Google Play Store at $349 (16gb).

Maybe you should stop buying the lower end Android device and start getting the higher end ones. Plus I do have you beat. I have owned over 20+ phones and 5 tablets in the past 2-3 years yet non of them disappointed me. Non of them were thrown away or smashed! Each one has its pros/cons. I have owned everything from Android, iOS, WP7, BB, Meego, Symbian ect.
