e6600 @ 3.42GHz load temps - Page 2

I have to say, that I own the CNPS9700 and I must admit that the results have been extremely underwhelming, I am getting TAT load temps, at STOCK settings at 62... basically in order to OC I have to open up my bedroom window in the middle of the night and let me room cool off to outside temp before ocing... *sigh* im still able to get 3.7 though, so its ok.

my temps read

cpu: 39c
core 1: 51c
core 2: 51c

idle:
cpu : 36c
core 1 : 46c
core 2 : 47c

you have the cnps9700 which is the successor to mine and according to reviews must give a better temperature than the CNPS9500
yeah i was wondering why the temps were so high on load. ive read everywhere that the 9500 can make mid 50C under load and a 1.4Vcore.

my idle temps are pretty low though:
CPU: 33C
core 1: 37C
core 2: 39C

how can you tell if the HSF is making full contact with the cpu? i just re-sat my hsf yesterday and im still getting the same temps. i cleaned off the hsf base and cpu with alcohol and re-applyed the thermal grease on both the core and hsf base.

oh yeah, and right now i dropped my cpu multi to 8 and raise the FSB to 400. (1:1, 3.2GHz, 800MHz ram)

i had to drop the multi so that i can drop the vcore to 1.325. now under both cores on full load (TAT 100%) the cpu temp is around 57C while the cores are around 60C

i just have a feeling those temps are too high for such a low vcore.

either your IHS or the 9700 may be concave, i suggest lapping the 9700, and if you are brave lap the e6600 as well.

Hey. Just ordered the same board you have (EVGA 680i w/ E6600). Wondering how it is overclocking?

no worries man its actually really easy and if you have the little cpu back cover that came with it when you got it theres really no way to hurt your cpu , there are alot of guides here, its alot easier then you would think, and your heatsinc is not going to hurt anything its jsut a little harder to do to tell ya the truth and i bet its your cpu anyways, most places make sure that there heatsincs are nice and flat for the msot part
