Need advice on this OC!

Thread Starter
Hello forum!http://www.overclock.net/forums/threads/edit/1333893#
So i've been messing around with my rig again, and this is what i've came up with.
I'm trying to get the maximum out of my beloved machine, so bare with me as i'm just an apprentice.

-So my GPU is overclocked to: 950/1450 --TESTED--
-My CPU is overclocked to: 4.5Ghz @ 1.38Vcore
-And my RAM to: 1572Mhz

*I changed Vcore to 1.38.

So any advice?
Anything wrong?
Should I lower it?

Thanks!

Bump, i need some feedback!
I've been playing a variety of games( all for 1 hour straight, planetside2, guildwars2, crysis2, etc) and the highest temperature was 68~70.
I also noticed increased performance in almost every task( 3.06 Ghz to 4.5Ghz win)
And my system never crashed!

Thanks

Looks good

Try using Prime95 in blend mode for ~8 hours to test for stability.

Just to make sure the chances of failing in the future is minimal

I'm going to try that! I'm just scared that the temperatures might go higher than 75 celcius... Also, i have a small doubt here: In Realtemp it shows like 60, 56, 55, 57 ( i belive these are the temperatures of each core) celcius and below it shows like 60+ even 70+ as "max temperature".... so, what is the actual temperature here? Thanks

Max is the max recorded temperatures. I'm not sure what the maximums are for your cpu, but 75+ should be fine.

Ok, so after some research i've found that my processor max temperatura should not go beyong 70 celcius...(MAX 67,9)
At idle it's between 46 and 48 wich is fine, While playing it reaches 66 68' wich is OK
But prime95 i'm not trying that so soon...

What should i do? i really am worried about prime95...

Those temps are more than fine, I've seen 920s hit 85 degrees and people still push it. It scares the crap out of me, but everyone on OCN says i7 9xx series are safe til 85+. Your OC is looking good, run prime for 12 hours if you really wanna test stability. If it's stable, and you're not happy, start tweaking the vcore, try lowering it a notch and see if it's still stable.

EDIT: WOW, you must have a very cool room, my 950 at 1.28 vcore with prime stressing it out can hit 70 degrees with a Noctua D-14. That's impressive. I never went for a higher clock cuz I'm a temperature nut as well, don't wanna burn my CPU :S lmao.

EDIT AGAIN: Okay, I need to start asking questions before I post, so have you ran Prime95? I can't say it's stable until you have.. because a lot of the times I can play games fine at 4.2ghz with 1.25 vcore, the second I touch prime it explodes in my face.

So i've ran Prime95 for about 1 minute (lol) but as soon as i saw 86 celcius i stoped imediatly.
I don't want to burn my cpu aswell!

Then i lowered to 4.2Ghz @ 1.35 Vcore
Ran again for 1 minute but the temps went to 85+ so i stoped aswell....

|Got back to 4.5Ghz 1.38 Vcore.|

Hmm, running games is just fine (i mean no problem going 75 celcius?)
And the other day my computer was left on all day and never crashed (temperatures were 50-53 lol)

What should i do? Also thanks for all your replies, it really helps!!

EDIT: Never had such a fast computer in my life!
Oh and about my room...Yea it's quite cool maximum 20º celcius (18 ATM)!

I think that's one of the reasons for running prime. It is a stress test to determine how high your voltage and temperatures will get. so some day, when your computer is under full load (perhaps not when your playing games), it will go over 85+. You might want to check out the i7 950 club here on OCN to get an idea as to what type of voltages and temperatures other users with your CPU are running. GL thumb.gif
