Where to plug in Secondary Monitor? 2nd SLI'd GPU or HD4000 iGPU?

So I have a dual monitor set up with my SLI GTX 580s. Both monitors plugged into separate GPU's. Thing is when I game I only use one monitor and being that they are SLI'd most of the time the secondary monitor becomes disabled. Should I plug in the secondary monitor to the HD4000 iGPU and is there any advert affects to the system in doing so (extra heat, power, etc, latency). Also, will things such as say media that is hardware accelerated such as DXVA material when thrown to secondary monitor what GPU will be used?

I beleive if you plug into another nvidia card or the same card you will not be able to downclock quite as low as the cards can.

This is why I use my onboard graphics for my second display.
