Please help me!!! :-( unable to boot with fx processors

I have a custom built machine with a M55A9x Evo board with an AMD FX 4100 CPU. I tried replacing this CPU with an 8 core FX 8150. The Pc wouldn't boot and the CPU LED stayed red. It then would no longer boot with my FX4100 too :-/. Progress today, managed to get an old sempron and the pc booted fine with it. I have now flashed the Bios to the newest version but now it still won't boot with the 4100 or 8150 :-/ can anybody help or give any suggestions? Thank you all. Paul

Can we get all the details of the rig. Its hard to say but it could be an power issue. What PSU do you have? Have you checked that all the power cables are pushed all the way in (double check the CPU 8-pin cable).

Its really odd that the PC would boot up with an old sempron but no the original FX4100.

Sure, thanks for coming back so quickly. I am using 16gb of ripsaw ddr3, NZXT 850w PSU HD6870 GPU Corsair liquid cooled. It's worked fine for months. Then I hook up the 8 core and nothing unless I use the Sempron. Really weird, all the cables are fine. I have reset CMOS, at a loss really

Have you checked the PINS on the bottom of the CPUs? Check to see if one is bent, broken, or not even there.

Thanks. Yes I have, even tried to resort to counting the things haha. Had them under a magnifying glass and everything is fine there

How did you clear the CMOS? Removing the battery, or using the CMOS jumpers?
