So max overclock is 2133 on 2600k?

Hey,

I was playing with my memory. Quickly noticed I couldn't go above 2133MHz if I keep the Bclock at 100MHz. Not planning to mess with the Base clock so is 2133 MHz really the max? I wanted to push hard these sticks frown.gif

So far, I am able to do 8-10-8-24-2T 2133MHz with 1.55v. I don't think tRCD can be lowered but I know the ram can go at higher frequency with these timings...

Technically 2133 is not the limit for Sandy bridge chips. It really varies from chip to chip based off the strength of the chips IMC.

Unless you are using 1.35v memory to begin with, you should be able to push a little more voltage through your DIMMS, up to 1.65v.

also:

You should also increase QPI/VTT Voltage (VCCIO on some boards) along with System Agent/IMC (VCCSA on some boards) voltage to make sure your chips IMC is getting enough voltage.

2133 is the max multi for SB. ES chips have a higher multi, 2400 btw.

I think it depends on the motherboard as well as CPU chip. The chip must be able to handle the speed but the board needs to have the required ram multiplier. With my ASUS P67 board i can select 2400MHz in the menu for RAM speeds, never tried if it actually works since i don't own any 2400MHz RAM sticks.

It won't work because the chip does not have the multi to run 2400. The only non-ES 1155 chip to have 2400mhz multi is Ivy, and iirc Ivy goes way higher.

What is the max safe voltage for IMC?
Tried to push 8-9-8-24 2133MHz with 1.65v but had to reset CMOS. I had 1.1vtt & .95 IMC

OMG i feels so stupid now. blushsmiley.gif You made me read my motherboard manual very closely and at the bottom of one page it said

Well, decided to tighten timings instead.

So far I was able to get 6-7-6-20 1600MHz at 1.5v. Will try to get a 5-7-6-20 or maybe 5-7-5-20 biggrin.gif
