Overclocked 460 questions

Thread Starter
Are 460s supposed to throttle down after a certain temp? Mine doesn't, worries me that I could potentially break my card. I've bios modded it to up the volts to like, .975 to hit 815/1700/2000, I think I could go higher if I didn't have stock cooling. I'm thinking I could hit 850 with aftermarket cooling, maybe more, it's just the temps are too high and it doesn't throttle down in Windows. In linux the temps won't exceed something like 75C or so and I think it's throttling the card there. Any explanation as to why it doesn't in windows?

I know this thread is a little old, hopefully you're still looking for an answer. GTX 460s throttle at 105C though personally I would recommend keeping it below 90C at the max.

75C is definitely fine and nothing to worry about.
