Odd Asus GTX 570 fan issue

Thread Starter
I just picked up an Asus GTX 570 DirectCU II today and the fan is giving me fits. Once the card reaches 70c the fan ramps to 100%.

-this happens with any GPU tuning software
-this happens no matter the fan curve or auto/manual setting as long as the GPU reaches 70c

I'm assuming this isn't normal.

If its used, the original user might have done a Bios-mod and entered a custom fan profile (100% @ 70c).
Try updating the Bios to the latest one:

Thanks for the response. I was unable to flash that Bios due to it being a varying PN card. I found the newest Bios for my card, which was what GPU-Z said was already on it, but flashed it with nvflash anyway in hopes that it would help.... to no avail. :/

EDIT - tried again and noticed nvflash stated

"EEPROM erase failed. Software write protection enabled, unable to erase EEPROM>"

So... apparently the flash was unsuccessful.

UPDATE - Got the Bios to flash by removing write protection and forcing the flash. Still ramping up at around 70c. It seems to be kicking in around 70-74c.

It's not a huge deal because the card never really gets that hot during gaming, but it's driving me nuts that I can't figure out the issue. rolleyes.gif
