GTX 670 FTW 4GB or 2GB - Page 2

I just got mine tody from newegg ( EVGA GTX 670 FTW+ 4gb ) with an ek gtx 680 + block. The only reason I went with the 4gb is for skyrim. For heavily modded skyrim you can sit at 3 gb. If I decide to go triple moniters it will be in a new rig when the 7xx series comes out.

$40 dollars wicked skyrim is worth it for me.

For surround AMD is the better choice... but 4GB I suppose is better than 2GB. But you card is going to be wanting more GPU power to back that up.

At 1440p,1600p or higher you want the 4gb model. 1080p 2gb will be more than fine.

In most cases...I play on 1080p and 2GB is NOT enough.

If you play Skyrim and do any modding to it I would not even think twice about getting the 4GB model. I have the 2GB 670 and I have issues maintaining playability because of vram being used up, even at 50 some fps. I'm currently selling it to replace it with a 4GB model. I also plan to go SLI down the road so 4GB is the logical choice in my situation.

Besides Skyrim with a ton of Mods, there really is no need for a 3-4gb card @ 1080p. With a couple of mods in Skyrim, with my old 2 gb 460's SLI, I was only at 1.5gb of vram usage still with everything near maxed and with my 670 with everything fully maxed I'm at about 1.4gb vram. I'll install a couple more mods tonight (visual mods) and see how much higher it goes. However, with the exception of a heavily modded Skyrim most people will find 2 gb cards to be more than enough @ 1080p.
