I just got a Samsung 840 250gb for $160 on black friday. I also just got a new laptop(t430s) but its still in the mail. I'm planning on placing it in the laptop. I used ubuntu for dev and everything else other than games, and win7 for games.
I have yet to decide to go for the ultrabay option or not. I dont need that much space since I have external hdd with movies/music but I was planning on putting games(bf3, cs:go, l4d2) on there 16+13+4 = 33gb.

Should I update the firmware by plugging it into my desktop before I get my laptop?
Should I wait till my laptop to install the OS?
Which OS should I install first? Keep in mind I will mostly use ubuntu if that matters.
After all that is it cool that I just copy n paste the games instead of redownloading them on the ssd.

I've read some of the guides saying not to defrag or full format.
