Vertical lines on ASUS HD 7870 while playing games

Thread Starter
Gents,
Recently I've encountered a problem where my game will crash to vertical lines for a few moments. After a couple of seconds, the game will either resume or become unplayable (depending on the game).
Video card is an ASUS HD 7870, and I have an 850w power supply.
According to CCC:
High Performance GPU settings: 860 MHz
High Performance memory clock settings: 1200 MHz
Current temperature is 42°C. Third party logs put the temp at 71°C during the crash, and that is with a full screen game.
Have had the card for about 7 months and has been working fine up until a couple of weeks ago. According to my receipt, it is still eligible for return so I believe that is an option (as a last resort).

I just noticed now that the LEDs don't light up anymore.

Any tips for possible repair, or suggestions for routes of replacement and prevention of problems like this in the future would be appreciated.

Those clocks are for the 7850, the 7870 should be at 1000MHz core. Anyway, the problem you are experiencing is a sign of unstable/faulty memory on your card. Re-install the drivers, try some newer/older driver to see if it's a software issue, but most likely you'll have to RMA that card.
