Creative Sound Blaster driver question (any Sound Blaster fundies around for help?)

Hi

I just received my new Sound Blaster Z today. I read very few (but good) reviews on it so I am excited. I read that it is a significant improvement over the failure called Recon3D - will see how it goes.

Back to my question...

I want to download the latest driver from Creative's site instead of relying on drivers from the CD provided which is usually old(er). If I choose my product as Sound Blaster Z, I am presented with only two download options:

1.) Creative WaveStudio
2.) Creative Media Toolbox

Surely the Creative WaveStudio or Media Toolbox are not driver packages? If they are not, where is the link to the latest driver for the Sound Blaster Z, or if one of them is in fact the driver package, which one is it?

Thanks so much.

Regards,
CTV

I feel that this means they don't have a newer driver for it yet than what's on the CD.

You're going to have to use the drivers on the CD, those seem to be (by what I can gather) the only available drivers to date...therefore arguably the latest ones as well. WaveStudio and Media Toolbox are both just useless software attachments for the card, no need to even use them imo.

Just pop in the CD, back it up (the driver) as well if you so desire and you're set. smile.gif

Hi. Thank you for they super quick reply. Granted, your suspicion is plausible, however what would be the case if someone where to misplace their driver disc? They would surely have to rely on online resources to obtain it? In such a case one would have to at least then have the 1st version of this driver (also shipped on disc), available for download?
