stay under/close to 90C, and youll be fine smile.gif
you prolly never see those temps with daily usage,
playing games and such

I generally hit low 40's / high 30's while playing games. I may try boosting it up to 4.4 and see what the temps are like.

May just be the chip frown.gif
P.S. Your profile pic..... Dat game.... Childhood...

Haha, it was sooo hard. I think I only beat it once.

My max on a hyper 212 evo with p95 is 80 on 4.5ghz, so it's about correct temperature settings.

I personally wouldn't worry too much - if you really need the OC, just go for it. These things are built like tanks.

I know the 212 evo isn't a top of the line cooler but I feel like I should be able to push my chip a bit higher with it. Is 80c higher than it should be, or is that normal for my overclock with my cooler?

As far as cooling for the rig I have a HAF 932 with 4x CM 120mm Sickle fans on the side panel running at 100% and one on the bottom of the case, all as intake. The stock 140mm rear exhaust and a CM MegaFlow 200mm on the top exhaust and the front intake.

Thanks!

Just thought I'd let you know I'm getting the exact same temps with the Evo 212 and the 3770k as you are. 80C max load at 4.2ghz LOL I feel better now biggrin.gif

I can't fit the Noctua in my case to cool it, not sure if it would matter much either. Just so you know my Core Voltage is 1.120 and the VID is 1.1559 sooooooooooooo according to this chart he ran his testing and got the same voltage level, you can probably go by it. However this guys full load temps he posted make no sense whatsoever, he claims 37C full load at 1.12, ABSURD. I can't believe after all his work he missed that idk whatever.

I will leave it as is now, no further =X

Toyed with idea of getting Corsair H80 but don't think it would make much difference here.

Also it may not be stock voltages you're using, I only say this because I've learned the ASUS Suite II / BIOS is usually set to Auto for most things and it will up the voltages accordingly to your change in the multiplier. I am willing to bet other motherboards do similar things so you THINK it's stock voltage but in reality it's not.

Bye

That sound impossible, 1.42 voltage core? Maybe you mean VID but I can't see how this is possible, what mobo is it? That voltage should produce much higher temps IMO

How you tested, I used Prime95 Small FFT's

ya thanks 4 the post steve i have same cpu and hyper evo im at 4.0GHz with 1.240 voltage and while gaming im at 50 celcius. i used the intel bios to overclock my cpu. slide bar set the settings automatically. i havnt felt the need to push 4.5GHz unless it gave a noticble boost in my framerate. if anyone can help me out with my framerate please holler at me on STEAM "psybr0g"

1.240v for 4.0ghz wow that's insane way to high don't be like that guy and use software to overclock.
have you tried leaving the top fans as ehaust then switch the hyper 212 evo to blow straight up so it sucks out the hot air threw the larger fans?
could shave some temps that way.
