Visual Basic help

Thread Starter
Hi All. Need a quick crash course in Visual Basic. Pretty familiar with older versions of BASIC (qbasic, GWbasic, etc) but not the VisualBasic IDE. Any suggestions? Need to write a quick survery program for a friend that asks a series of ?s, allows the user to input 1-5, and stores the data in an output file. Do I have to use the IDE, or can I just code it as a txt file? Thanks!

You can code as a text file but Visual Studio Express is free. However VB.NET is quite a bit different to BASIC. In fact they're whole other languages. So you'd either need to find a free BASIC compiler (there are some around) or learn a new language.

....however, there are free online tools; such as Survey Monkey. Will that not meet your needs or does it have to be a standalone application?
