I set cpu ratio to 47
Dsiabled cpu pll overvoltage
Turned off turbo boost
Set turbo power limits to 250
Set core current limits to 250
Disabled C1E
Disabled C3/C6
Disabled thermal monitoring
Set cpu vtt to 1.65
Set vcore to 1.325

I think thats about it. Can someone please comment on my settings, this my first overclock, and don't want smurf things up.

What CPU is this? And have you done any stress testing? How are the temperatures?

i7 3770k, sorry forgot to specify the cpu. I did do a little stress testing with aida64, but only for 15 minutes, because I didn't want risk damaging my cpu in case i changed a setting in the bios that i wasn't suppose to. Max temps were 85.

I don't want to give you any wrong advice because I never OCed a 3770k yet. But the temps seem okay to me, 15 minutes is somewhat short. If you're planning for 24/7 stability I would run it on Prime95 for at least a few hours, I like to do 12hours or so on my i7 9xx series. If it can run 12 hours of prime and have no crashes and the temps stay at 85 you can start fine tuning or leave it as it is.

Forgot to say, congrats on 4.7, even if it is 15 minutes, I've yet to see that for my i7 9xx series haha.thumb.gif

Thanks will run a stress overnight, but is prime95 optimized for ivy bridge architecture. I read that aida64 ultizes every aspect of the i7 3770k when doing its stress test, so I'm a lil scared to run prime95 for that long, unless it was updated recently for the ivy bridge platform. Either way will run the stress test 2nite.

If you use version 27.7 of prime95 it will be ok for ivy bridge

I'd recommend turning back on some things you disabled. There is no reason to disable turbo boost, EIST, C1E, or thermal monitoring. All of those work just fine when overclocking Ivy CPUs.

if you run AIDA64, and your hottest core is 85C,
i would advice not to just run prime overnight,
it will prolly hit 100+C and throttle or shut down core,
if youre afraid damaging your 3770k, then dont run it

go back to 4.5-4.6ghz, something like that, and try run that,
and watch temps first, ivy is a hothead.. smile.gif
i used aida64 too at first, because at 4.5ghz prime would hit 105C within seconds ,
i delidded mine later, but thats another story ..lol
