Depends on your player I think. Unless you specify ASIO or WASAPI in your music player, the default Windows sound will re-sample everything to 48khz (though this is configurable). The resampler in Windows 7 and previous versions sucks terribly. Most music you play will be in 44.1khz, which gets resampled to 48khz, so you get a lot of terrible sound.

The resampler in Windows 8 is actually decent, which could explain a better playback quality overall. It won't affect people who are already using WASAPI or ASIO.

No not just the player i was talking about but with WASAPI or ASIO itself. You cant go wrong of the popular Audiophile choice F2K or Winamp players either. And not a noob here , when it comes to Audio wink.gif

Just Enjoy your audio with the new W8 Audio Engine thumb.gif

ASIO is obsolete with Windows 8 as WASAPI (improved WASAPI over Vista / Windows 7) is now low latency.
You'll have far more potential problems implementing ASIO with Windows 8 than just using WASAPI.

May be for you, but not for me and others. I use ASIO since the old days and i prefer ASIO over WASAPI / KS, even though it sounds same for some folks. I can go as long 2ms latency on my Auzentch ASIO panel and never i faced an issue.
