[Build Log] Calamity (SM8/G1 Sniper 3 Water Cooled Build) - Page 3

So you have settled on Bitspower fittings? If so I heartily agree, I love their compression fittings.
As for their mini valves, I have them in two builds and they work just fine.
I didn't look over your fan diagram very well, but just remember only one rpm wire per group actually goes to fan controller and you will be fine.
Major fan of MDPC, but if you can't match it to your build, then ya gotta do what you gotta do.

Welcome to the SM8 owners club! I know you will love it as much as I do mine. Simply awesome case.

Gigabyte and Case Labs, it don't get any better.thumb.gif

Yeah, I may end up going a different route, and painting/powdering the chrome QDC's to match, or hide them even. I might just order 1 BP Mini Valve just to see how it goes for me, maybe it would be OK, I don't know. We shall see! Thanks for input my man. thumb.gif

One thing I might say is that I think it will be nearly impossible to find a perfect match for mobo/sleeve unless you are working with a neutral color. MDPC will outshine the mobo color for sure just like this paracord is a tad brighter. That being said, personally I think the paracord color looks great but I feel the grey has no place in there tongue.gif
Also any consideration to Gelid Wing UV greens? Are you painting the AP-15's? ohh I see is that where the grey comes in?

Both points duly noted, I will sit on it for a night before I make any more sleeving purchasing decisions. I think you may be right though, and it might be about as close as I am going to get. That being said, most of the green that is lighter on the mobo (ram/pcie slots) will be covered for the most part, and the green on the NB heatsinks is actually a tad brighter. I supposed I could just base the rest of my green off of that, and the Neon Lime Paracord. I'm sure finding a paint to match that shouldn't be too bad, and if it is I'll take it to a shop and just try to get them to match the color if they can. biggrin.gif I appreciate your thoughts on the matter though, NewHighScore. Don't be a stranger around here! thumb.gif

Edit: @NewHighScore I planned on painting the AP-15's, however, I got some of the grey Paracord just in case I decided not too. biggrin.gif I did look at the Gelids, not quite enough on the static pressure end for me, and I also wasn't in love with the semi-transparent green either.

Well, the infamous SM8 builder Mandrix makes a guest appearance in my "normal" thread (Compared to yours tongue.gif)! Glad to see ya stop by. As for the fittings, yes I am in love with the Bitspower compression fittings at the moment, and it will probably stay that way. The diagram I had laid out for the fans was just that way, I have a splitter taking 1 fan as a direct connect, tying back into the other 5 fans with just 2 wires being sent to the Lamptron. It should be good to go. I really wanted to do MDPC at first too, but the paracord can still be shrinkless, and it will probably match better, unfortunately. And thank you for the welcome to the club! I am sure you are right about the sheer amount of enjoyment I am about to get out of this case, and I couldn't agree more about Gigabyte and CaseLabs.

Cheers! cheers.gif

Update: More goodies came in again today! I was expecting them to most likely show up tomorrow. I am not going to unbox all these items because my 3 year old will be home any minute, and well, he would have a field day with Daddy's "toys". So my PSU, Lanptron FC5-V2 and various fan filters I am going to try out are what made it in this afternoon for this update. Anyways, some more pictures!

Corsair AX1200: Sexy, but will most likely be covered, painted, or di-noc'd soon enough

Lamptron FC5-V2: I have some fun plans for this one and the wiring of all my fans

Siilverstone 120mm Fan Filter: This is the filter I will most likely use, as I feel it would look the best while still serving its purpose

Another Silverstone 120mm Fan Filter: Magnetic

Rosewill 120mm Fan Filter: Quality doesn't really impress me, the filter or the casing

Bgears 120mm Fan Filter: This one has an interesting pattern to it, seems pretty nice

More updates as parts keep rolling in. Can't wait to actually get the case here so I can start messing with stuff. thumb.gif

Addiction

agreed... bitspower are my fittings of choice... they are top quality and almost always what i use... i havent used moonstone angled fittings yet, but their compressions are rather nice as well smile.gif

@OP

i think that if your parachord and board match exactly you will regret it... the goal of sleeving is to add a contrast and draw your eyes to the main componants... having a direct match color wise will mess up the visual... i like to get close to the rest of the colors when i sleeve but never exactly... as for the 4 color scheme, i think it will be tough... i also dont think i would use a dark grey as the fourth color unless you have a decent amount of grey in your case. i would check out the color sleeving sugestion thread and ask there/ use their guide to help figure out good paterns and figure out what you like smile.gif (ill provide a link when i get home if you would like it)

EDIT: grats on the update smile.gif.... and my little brother (3 at the time) decided it would be awsome to figure out how teh WC loop i was leak testing worked once rolleyes.gif... luckely there was no damage, but i learned my leason of leaving my door open and cool looking stuff on my desk rolleyes.gif

I appreciate your insight into the sleeving matter, eskamobob1. It is always nice to get the opinions of others (particularly those with experience biggrin.gif). The only grey I really would possibly even have is the blades on the AP-15's (which is the only reason I bought the grey, but I am most likely painting the fans anyways), so I will probably stick with mostly black/green, with a splash of white for consistencies sake in a white case.
Side Note: I am thinking of doing just a matching white on the AP-15 blades, but possibly a nice neon lime green. Any thoughts from anyone? I think either way would be good, but I just want to see what you lovely folks in the community think before I commence painting after finals are over.

+Rep to the following members for their input and information on some of the questions I had, and their valued opinions, because I forgot to mention it in my responses: Mandrix, NewHighScore, Eskamobob1 and Ceteris. Thanks guys! thumb.gif

Here's some help.

Mdpc green. The other greens don't match at all.

Here is the paracord

Try these. I just ordered them for my caselabs build.

ty for the rep, and i think i have more on your sleeving issue, but i wont be sure until i can see that mobo in teh case tongue.gif... the toughest part is going to be that that mobo and a decent number of you comp[onants lend them selves twoards a darker build... that said, since they do, if you can pull it off in a white case it will looks extremely good... once you post pick of the mobo in the case i should be able to help out a bit more... its just hard to picture for me to even know what kind of pattersn and contrasts to try tongue.gif
