can the 6970 lightning fit in the sg08?

Someone is selling me a 6970 lightning, he lives far away, I don't want to drive all the way there just to find out that it won't gonna fit. Does anyone know?

This is just coming from some research, but the lightning is 12.2". That case supports up to 12.2".

A friend of mine has a 690, which is 11" I believe. He put it in this case and there is a good 2 inches of room left.

http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R6970-Lightning.html#?div=Specification 310mm long or 12.204 " from MSI site.

http://www.silverstonetek.com/product.php?pid=317 *Silverstone spec sg08 site. Note under remark there is a list of video card that fit and the HD 5970 is marked at 12,2" and is stating to work in the case.

No reason for your card not to work.

Nice case btw. thumb.gif

I'm not worried about the lenght of the card, I'm worried about the height, the 6970 lightning is tall.

the Lightning is 310*127*38mm
and my ref 6970 is 275*111,2*40mm

the 16mm difference in height convert to 0,628"

on the Silverstone spec site there is this line *Support expansion cards up to 12.2 inches, width restriction-4.38"... *if* by width they mean height then your card won't fit, 4,38" wich is 11,125mm ( reference cards) mine is 111.2mm so you have like half a mm of space to fit the card in.
I can't tell 100% but im pretty sure their *width* is the height... so it Won't fit.

half of a millimeter is a very small amount of distance smile.gif small enough for sandpaper to rub away w/o hurting anything tongue.gif besides, if i'm reading your calculations correctly, you are talking about 0.05mm of distance not 0.5mm. 0.05 mm is not really even worth mentioning since that's thinner then a single sheet of paper.

i tried and it doesn't fit, it interferes with the "power Connector", my gtx 560 is in the picture, the 560 fits because it's not too tall.

i got something better though, a drunk guy traded his EVGA GTX 580 SC for my zotac gtx 560 plus 40 dollars, biggrin.gif
