My friend intends to play games with PhysicsX, and as he won't have an nvidia card, all of that is reverted to the cpu, so you need as many cores and threads as posible.
also, noone seems to have heard, I only have 1 expansion slot...
so no 7950.
also, his dad will also occasionally be using the computer for video editing and cpu compute tasks, so a 3770k will be the best way to go.
Thanks everyone for your help!

you can do physx on any nvidia card. but the 2 games that support it batman Ac and mafia.

what do you mean 1 expansion slot?

ie 1 pcie 16x slot or the case wont allow more then 1 slot?

UM, uh, how do I put this, GPU is the single most important component when it comes to gaming. It sounds like none of your other components will bottleneck a decent GPU but if your idea is to build a beasty gaming rig, you need to find a case that can fit a 2 slot card. Can you post the case/mobo that you are considering?

thats the problem.

so you need a single slot height GPU.

best i can find atm is the 7850, :/ unless you want to case mod.
