[Build Log] Downsized the Nerdrage

Thread Starter
Well it has been almost 3 years since my last build was completed and realized that I might have gone a little overboard on the size.

HAF-X
920
Rampage II Extreme
6gb Corsair XMS3 1600
480's in SLI w/ Gelid Icy vision coolers
HX1000W
WD 2tb HDD
couple seagates
lots of fans, yada yada yada.

The hardware was still performing up to my requirements for daily use and gaming but there were some features I was missing...USB 3.0, PCI-E 3.0, SATA III, inability to TRIM with RAID0, etc. Nothing that really had a huge impact, but I was getting the itch to upgrade.

After a flooded basement I took it upon myself to refinish the space and make myself an office. The catch was I needed to make my own desk to fit in the space. No problem!

The problem was I eyeballed the case and after getting it all built I go to put the HAF-X in and it's about 1/4" below the top of the desk...no upper airflow.

Crap.

Okay...well I lived with it looking out of place for a year and now I've had enough. It's time to upgrade.

i5 3570k
ASUS p8z77V-pro
16gb Crucial Tactical
MSI 660 Ti SLI
HX1000W
Corsair 500R
Samsung 840 120gb Raid 0
WD 2tb HDD
Blu Ray
DVD

Ahhh, that's better.

Muuuuch Better.

And just a couple benchmarks:

They are both below the HDD in those two cages.

Both cases are nice but I agree, I need to have my cases fit with the desk!

that is a great new build man! my friend has a HAFX, and because of the fans+ limited rad space, he has lots of fan cables running around( he has a H100 for now) and i was too lazy to remove the rad and make it look good again. anyway, if you like the 500R in white you can buy the parts from corsair.com, if you couldn't find it. btw are your 660Ti's the power edition?
