where did you read the reviews?
all the comments i saw and feedback said it isnt that great of a camera and that its rather mediocre compared to other similar camera systems.
not saying dont get it. just adding 2cents saying that i have heard nothing but people saying its nothing spectacular. noone said its terrible. just not all that super awesome.
i would also suggest looking at the
>canon EOS-M (which i admittedly know little about other than it exists)
i have used this camera a few times to take behinds the scenes photos on a TV production i worked on and it literally blew my mind. was so much fun using.
>olympus OM-D (very expensive, retro, but cool, not smart to buy as a first camera to learn on though lol)
also not sure what your budget is but the new panasonic GH3 will probably help make the GH2 even cheaper which is a pretty small camera that is mirrorless but is kinda of like having a DSLR except there isnt an optical viewfinder or mirror lol. hard to describe. GH2 is an impressive little camera but not nearly as compact as those others listed above as well as the nikon 1
dont limit yourself to purchasing a camera because its on sale at staples. do research on other cameras that are similar and make sure that is what you want. find a store where you can test out the nikon 1 and other mirrorless cameras to make sure you like how it feels in your hands.
nothing is worse than buyers remorse because you bought something just because it was on sale and didnt check out the other offerings from competing companies
