4GHZ finally phenom ii x4 840t 2.9ghz stock 4ghz overclock

woo 4ghz.
now i have some questions about the voltages being at 1.55 on idle but when i stress its more like 1.5-1.512ish in that range what can i do to level it out more as for LLC all i have is auto disable(for am3+ cpu) and enable (for am3 cpu) . any thoughts or suggestions are welcome looking to fine tune this a bit and try to drop some temps at same time lol 58C prime blend not liking that but it wasnt constant and don't hit those temps other than stress testing like prime or IBT.

Thats vdroop, LLC combats this so turning it on will give it the voltage a boot under load so its similar to the set vcore. In other words it'll try and keep it at a constant voltage.

Only other way to try and drop those temperatures is to see if you can knock your CPU/NB voltage a little lower or vcore. If not you may have to knock the FSB back a tiny bit and raise the multiplier instead.

It's a balancing act, but it doesn't mean you can achieve a lower voltage for the same frequency.

EDIT:
Just noticed, your CPUNB is at default (2000mhz) but its at 1.2v? Knock this down to 1.0v (default) and you should find the chip cooler HOWEVER Deneb likes high CPU/NB frequencies, but if heat is a concern you may have to knock it back a touch.

cpu/nb is at 2700(or something cant remember exactly but its maxed) that is why cpu/nb V is at 1.2 i will try and drop it when i get home from school and see if i can get it stable.

As for multi on cpu it wont go higher than 14.5 even thou it shows x16 on the list so im limited to hit 4ghz.
also would it be better to turn llc off and up vcore in bios or is it fine where it is at and just ignore the idle 1.55ish volts.

side note this isnt a Deneb . its zosma/thuban (labled as zosma but is a thuban with 2 cores disabled, wont unlock either already tried)

Oh yeah sorry just realized, shame it won't unlock.

1.55 for Thuban will kill it bare in mind, I can't remember if the same rules apply to Zosma, but considering its a locked Thuban you want to be careful with voltages. Over 1.5 on a Thuban can really reduce its life span.

You always want LLC on to get the load voltage to the same as idle voltage. Upping the vcore with LLC is a bad idea because you'd be running a higher voltage more often than a demanding load task.

Again, look up Zosma voltages, I am pretty sure 1.55 is dangerous for it. The Thuban architecture is more sensitive to voltage than Deneb was

The E0 revision that you have should overclock well. Nice overclock.

i can keep it stable and under 1.5 at 3.85ghz no problem was just trying to see if i can get 4ghz under 1.5 apparently it wants over 1.5 for 4ghz .
and 3.98 wants 1.5-1.512
i`ll look up some zosma info and see what i can do voltage wise

also i went back to 3.85 in the mean time as i wasnt sure with the 1.5+ voltage but will do some digging

Yeah sounds like the chip needs to feed more. You're near your limit in other words. 3.8Ghz is still great for that chip mind thumb.gif
