Please teach or show me to OC my i7-920 P6T

I want to OC my i7-920, asus P6T, G.skill 24GB. It's been running 2.67 for about 4 years now. I want to up the speed on the CPU, and someone please show me a step by step on how to OC my computer. I want something stable for everyday use. Anything from 3.2 to 4.0 would be great. All I know is that I go into the BIOS and into "Al Tweaker". Then I'm lost from there. Thanks in advance.

I wold start by reading this guide its a great start to find out what all the settings do on x58 motherboards.

Bclk to 200 and turbo the multi to 21x with around 1.32-1.38v on the cpu

Start off with just the 20x multi with no turboing. Then once you get that turbo it and set proper voltage to get it stable. Just note your gonna need one hell of a CPU cooler.

okay.

So 200 x 21x = 4.2?? Will my computer handle that? 4.0 would be great already if I can achieve that..LOL.

How do I turbo it?

Also do I turbo it after I set the clock to 200 and multi to 20x?

What do you mean by set proper voltage?

Do I keep upping the voltage on the cpu starting at 1.32 and then rise it from there?

How do I know when it's stable?

Sorry for all the newbie question. I'm learning. biggrin.gif

Okay so now I can't access my "CPU Ratio Setting". I have the "Ai overclock tuner" set to manual already, and I still can't access my cpu ratio setting. Any help would be great.

Thanks for the help guys. I figure it out. thumb.gif

I would recommend something like 19 X 190 or 19 X 191 as the P6T doesn't like even multipliers. Also keep the ram under 1600MHz as most cpus cannot handle anything higher.

Do you have a good CPU cooler?

Thanks for the advice. I have it at 21x with the clock speed at 170. It's giving me around 3.5 which is plenty I think. Temps are around 40-40c so far. I was thinking about running prime95, but most of the time I have my computer on for a couple of hours only. I have the RAM around 1604MHz. Should I lower it?
I would run prime 95 it isn't goo to run a overclock that is unstable. The best test in prime95 is custom and try to fill up all your free ram. 1600MHz is fine just make sure your QPI voltage is enough to keep it stable. When you get a blue screen the guide I linked to earlier shows what voltages to change.
