After installing my MSI GTX660Ti, my monitor won't wake from Sleep Mode

This is really annoying as I do use sleep feature quite often. This all started as soon as I got my new graphics card, installed it and downloaded the latest driver. Also, I just "upgraded" to Vista Service Pack 2 64 bit.

Anyone experienced similar problem?

TIA

Does the card generally work? Does it just not "wake up" anymore?

I don't have a problem with the card itself. In fact, it's awesome. It's just that ever since I installed this new card, my monitor won't wake up from Sleep Mode. The computer wakes, the keyboard wakes, etc...but the monitor is black. So I have to push and hold-down the power button to re-start.

An easy temporary fix would be to deactivate the monitor from turning off in sleep mode and just turning it off manually...?

I suppose I can try that. But I'd also like to get a permanent solution to this. A quick google search shows multiple possibilities for the root cause...graphics driver, voltage issues, Windows Service pack problem etc. etc. I don't even know where to begin.

Hmm, did you try uninstalling all drivers and try sleep/wake with standard driver (i believe standard driver c ? Does it work then ?

PS: Also check event viewer for entries related to Nvidia. Nvidia might also have its own section.

I unintalled and reinstalled the latest graphics driver from Nvidia. It didn't help.

How do I do sleep/wake "with standard driver?"

Do you still have your old card?
If its also a nvidia, try it with the same drivers and see if the sleep mode works.

My old card is kaputt. Hence the new card. But I did have a loaner video card from a friend of mine while I was recovering all the stuffs before my card decided to go and I did not have this problem with the loaner card in.

If the problems only occur with the new card then I'd RMA it.
