I was set on getting the Matrix, but I keep missing out on when its available.

yeah the Sapphire HD 7970 Vapor-X is a very good choice . for 440 bucks(420 after rebate) its a good deal. grab it.

Thanks guys - I'll end up getting the 7970 Ghz then. Don't suppose there are any imminent price drops on the cards? After Christmas perhaps?

I'd recommend that you get a used 7950/7970 for as cheap as you can to hold you over till HD 8000 if you want to wait. thumb.gif

The 7950/70 is still plenty for 1440P.

You'll see them drop prices when the release date of the new graphics cards get nearer and nearer.

Gigabyte HD 7970 OC is a good card for 310 - 320 bucks

the Sapphire HD 7970 Ghz Vapor-X is a good card for 360 bucks
http://www.novatech.co.uk/products/components/amdradeongraphicscards/amdhd7970series/11197-12-40g.html

if you want the best value for your money get the HD 7950 and overclock it. at the same clocks HD 7950 is 3 - 6% slower than HD 7970.

Gigabyte HD 7950 OC (900 Mhz) - 240 to 252 bucks

How is Crossfire with the 7000 series, by the way? I only ask because ultimately I will be getting a second, so worth knowing of any issues smile.gif

you'll get around 90% or more, it's pretty downright efficient nowadays
