Stupid Memory Question - Page 2

Probably just 2x512, I dont use a massive ammount of ram on this machine. My dev box has 2GB ECC, but that doesnt matter its used for a completely diff purpose.

More than likely this set here, Ive heard good things about it.

You only want Micron if you're going 2GB otherwise TCCD is the better choice

The TCCD OC better, they usually do to 570-600 with 2-4-3(4)-7(8) timings

2.5-3-3-6(Appolo) is better than 2.5-4-4-8(Ballistix)

ohhhhh ok gotcha, nice! yeh thats kinda why im asking because my memory is whats hurting my oc. once i hit 2.6 everything keeps falling back on the memory. and Im kinda thinking about getting a little better memory to hopefully be able to pull at least 2.9GHz stable. the KHX I have now its a bit problematic, and doesnt take changes well.

Couldn't you just throw the memory on a divider?

Yeh I dont understand this though. If I throw it on a divider, in my motherboard of 133MHz at 2.8GHz CPU my memory is running at 147mhz or something like that, and is supposed to top out at 230MHz... However It will not go to 2.9 without dropping that divider down to "100MHz". I have gotten it to 2.9 but it wont stay running without a reboot for more than 5 mins... So as far as I can figure its the memory... Maybe not?

What was the vcore you used to get to 2.9?

Couldn't you use you a less steep divider?

What about dropping the multi and raising the FSB?

If i recall vCore was 1.45, I should be able to use a less steep divider, however it wont go to 2.9 at "133Mhz", which I figure it should because the memory is still only running at 183Mhz(if i recall correctly.) at 2.8

Edit:

Here is at 2.8 via cpuz verification

CPU : AMD Opteron 146 (UP) (*1)
CPU Arch : 1 Cores - 1 Threads
CPU PSN : AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 146
CPU EXT : MMX (+) 3DNow! (+) SSE SSE2 SSE3 x86-64
CPU Cache : L1 : 64/64 KB - L2 : 1024 KB
Core : Venus (90 nm) / Revision : E4
CPUID : F.7.1 / Extended : F.27
Freq : 2813.44 MHz (281.34 * 10)
----------------------------------
MB Brand : ASUSTeK Computer INC.
MB Model : A8R32-MVP Deluxe
NB : ATI Xpress 3200 (RD580) rev 00
SB : ALI M1575 rev 00
----------------------------------
RAM Size : 1024 MB
RAM Freq : 140.7 MHz
RAM Type : DDR-SDRAM Dual Channel
RAM Ratio : CPU/20
RAM Timings : 2-3-3-5

----------------------------------
Slot 1 : 512MB (PC3200)
Slot 1 Manufacturer : Kingston
Slot 2 : 512MB (PC3200)
Slot 2 Manufacturer : Kingston

But even to get to 2.8 I have to run a killer divider.

Try increasing the vcore to either 1.475 or 1.5 and see if it's stable, its likely that it's not the memory and it's the CPU not getting enough volts
